What is DVT?

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) occurs when there is a blockage of blood flow returning from the leg due to blood clots, resulting in limb swelling and pain. In some cases, this condition can be highly dangerous, as there is a risk of clots migrating toward the heart and blocking its pumping action, leading to a condition known as pulmonary embolism.

DVT can be detected through common tests
Available at most medical facilities, including the following:

For Newly Diagnosed DVT Patients

If you have been confirmed to have DVT, studies have shown that the best outcomes are achieved when clots are removed as early as possible. Fortunately, with today’s advanced technology, it is possible to effectively treat DVT in Raipur. Let’s explore a few techniques used by Dr. Prashant Pote to remove blood clots in DVT treatment:

Penumbra MAX pump with CAT catheter

This treatment involves a mechanical catheter known as the CAT catheter, connected to the Penumbra MAX pump. It’s used to mechanically remove blood clots from deep veins, facilitating blood flow restoration and reducing the risk of complications in patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

CLEANER XT device/Clot-breaking machine:

The CLEANER XT device, also referred to as a clot-breaking machine, is a mechanical thrombectomy system used to break up and remove blood clots in the deep veins, offering a minimally invasive approach for DVT treatment.

Classical Catheter-directed thrombolysis:

This treatment involves the use of a catheter to deliver clot-dissolving medications directly to the site of the blood clot in the deep veins. It helps dissolve the clot, restore blood flow, and is considered a traditional method for managing deep vein thrombosis.

These procedures may also involve the use of an IVC filter during the process, which can sometimes be removed after a few weeks.

For Old DVT Patients:

Unfortunately, many patients could not receive advanced treatment due to a lack of knowledge or the unavailability of treatment in their areas. Consequently, these patients continue to suffer from leg swelling, leg pain, varicose veins, and leg ulcers that become difficult to treat.

Dr. Prashant Pote, an expert in this field, may have a solution for your problem. If a CT venogram reveals blockages in major veins, they can be opened using balloons (angioplasty), and in some cases, stents can be deployed. This provides relief from leg swelling and pain, aiding in ulcer healing
